A question for mature men and women only please........... Need advice.....?

What would be appropriate attire for going on interview for a receptionist position for me? I am thirty six and want to give a good impression. And what does a boss look for most in an employee?A question for mature men and women only please........... Need advice.....?
Dress consevativly. Reasearch the company, This can be done on the internet, but you should also call the company, talk to the receptionest and find out who the hr person is, Try to get extentions for others who work at the company that you may get info from.. Back to what to wear, it all depends on where you live and what you look like. A dress, not to short and no open toe shoes. If you have nice legs then don't wear nylons, if your legs aren't that great, wear light colored nylons. You didn't say what kind of company that you are seeking employment with, that matters;

If I can be of more help. email me...

GOOD LUCK and God Bless...

This is pretty simple. Wear a suit. Don't wear anything frilly with it, and keep it simple and elegant on the jewelry. Don't wear perfume. Go easy on the makeup.

A boss looks for integrity and confidence. Smile and take it one step at a time.

Good Luck

A 3-peice suit is not necessary but you should wear a suit none-the-less. A dress with a matching jacket or a skirt with a matching jacket. Clean shoes (no sandals) with a modest heel, no scuff marks and no worn down heels. Your purse or a briefcase would be appropiate. If a purse is carried, match it to your shoes. Clean, short fingernails are a must. Nail polish is not necessary. Keep make-up to a minimum. Hair should be neatly groomed. A boss looks for eye contact, a pleasant smile and a firm handshake. Do not giggle, look down or away. Have a can do attitude and be sure to ask the boss questions, such as why is the position open, when do you need me to start, how long has the company been in business, etc.
As a receptionist, you will be the first person anyone, coming into the office, will see. Investigate the business and adjust your dress to what it calls for, still projecting professionalism and interest.
Hi. I have just finished up a very extensive resume and interviewing class a couple of weeks ago. I can really give you alot of good advice. I'm 37 years old and have been on interviews and have given interviews both and was very surprised at everything that I did not know! If you would like to send me an e-mail where I can tell you more my address is alicia91268@hotmail.com

If not, then here are a few recommendations: it is best to wear dark colors. Black, navy, dark gray. Solid colors. Pants or a skirt. Red for a shirt is also acceptable now, darker red, preferably, it's considered a ';power'; color now.

One ring, a watch if you like, no bracelets, one pair of earrings if you prefer but post or something small. Keep the attention on you. A firm handshake. Take your resume with you even if you have already sent one in. I could give you alot great tips really. My class was really insightful. Like I said e-mail me if you like. Whatever you decide. Good luck!!! :)

BTW, research the company. Know what they are about. Greet the interviewer by name. Keep eye contact.
For a receptionist position, you'll need to look and feel as attractive as possible. Wear clothes as professional and as nice as possible, but whatever you wear, make sure it makes you feel good. If it doesn't, wear what does. You need to be confident and secure enough to smile, truly smile, and be friendly.

What I want in a receptionist is someone who gives a friendly face to the company, yet is discreet and tactful. Other important qualities are to be observant, well organized, and able to prioritize details (both for themself and for passing on to me).
I work in a law office. So my perception of proper attire is something on the conservative side that shows that you have good social awareness, confident in who your are as a business professional, and you know that you have the skills to do the job.....as opposed to some applicants who are not accustomed to show-casing their intellect, but hope that an approach that leans more towards sexyness will serve their purpose more. I believe that your job search must also take into consideration that you want something that 'fits you' in addition to fitting into the company. If a boss would choose you for your flirtatious looks, in the long run it probably won't be what you're looking for in the way of career opportunities. Good luck. I often think it's also good to go the the business center or professional building where you seek to apply, for instance during the lunch hour, and take note of how the employees are attired who are already there. It may give you some ideas.
The more professional the better. Many interviewers will tell you the receptionist is really the face of the organization, so you can't really lose by dressing in business attire and looking as professional as you can.
I would wear a jacket-and-pant or jacket-and-skirt outfit, in a light color like beige, tan, cream, but no ';girly'; colors.

A boss looks for someone who is efficient, effective, a team player, bright, dedicated, knowledgeable in their field, and alert.

Look directly at the interviewer, smile, and assure them that you have a ';can do'; attitude.

Best of luck.
Not a three piece suit, but a two piece is nice or a nice skirt and coordinating jacket or sweater set.
My advice would be to go dressed as a rabbit , and make sure , instead of a briefcase , you carry a huge bunch of carrots . The interviewer will definately remember you as you will stand out from the rest . Also answer every questions with a twitch of your nose and a 'what's up doc' or similar phrase . At the end ask him the square root of a negative number and if he gets it wrong tell him you dont't want to work for him .
Go to the business where you wish to apply and see what the current receptionists/ secretaries are wearing. If this is not possible, then go to a similar office/ business and make note of what they are wearing. Then dress accordingly. Take an active role in your research and maintain a positive confident attitude. Good luck.
DO MAKE IT A POINT TO WEAR A BLACK MIDI TAPERING SKIRT, MATCHING BLACK 3 INCH HEELS, A WHITE TUCKED-IN SHIRT WITH MAGERE SLEEVES, NEATLY COMBED HAIR/PONY TAIL, A BRIGHT LIPSTICK, WEAR LAVENDER PERFUME AND A MEDIUM SMILE.
if the business is a Sports Gym, you should NOT look like a lawyer but should look like a fit person who believes in working out and being fit.

If you work in a Law Firm, please don't wear gym shorts when you greet people.

Besides that.... Just be YOURSELF.

do not pretend to be someone you are not, just be your natural self.

Good luck
You could wear a skirt (not too short!) with a nice blouse or some other kind of shirt.

Dress slacks (not jeans) with a nice top.

Nothing sleeveless. Luckily I don't have to tell you to cover your belly! :)

Just look very nice. Where I work, I've seen people come in for interviews in cut offs, shorts, jeans, tank tops, t-shirts... and they're not always clean! Amazing.

You're 36, I'm sure that you'll do just fine picking out the right outfit! Good luck.
If you have to ask, it's probably too late. Your boss won't be looking for a sexy trollop, I can assure you of that.
Do you have any idea how other people in this company dress?

Usually it would be wise to go in a nice suit. By this I mean a nice pair of pants with a jacket over a blouse.

If you go with a skirt, I wouldn't go with anything above the knee and wear the appropriate shoes with the outfit.

Use your good judgement and I'm sure you will be fine.

Good luck on your interview
a suit is always a good bet for an interview - modest apparel, keep the skin baring stuff for another time

even if it's a casual atmosphere workplace, you want to be dressed 'up'

nothing trendy, just business-like, pressed and clean

as for what do bosses want?

sheesh - who knows...

honesty, reliability, dependability, punctuality, common sense

etc etc
I would suggest a light weight pretty dress and small heels The most a boss looks for is honesty and being yourself As for a receptionist be outgoing friendly and smile a lot people really like that and good luck with your job be positive and your sure to get it
you need to dress modist and a bosswants you to really WANT the job and for you to know alot about what it is that you're going to be doing there
Simple...blouse, modest length skirt and a formal jacket. If the weather's v warm, then you could get away without a jacket. Look at some online shops.

Try www.asos.com a uk based online clothes store. They have some great stuff for work and play.
apply the KISS rule and everythin will work out fine!
